Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC)

Are you a design engineer with an interest in HVAC systems and the Fire industry? Are you competent with design packages such as Solidworks and Inventor? Would you like to join a respected company where you can progress into a Team leader role?
Well, I am hiring for a Design engineer to join my client, one of the leading players within their sector!
The Role:
Design
- Lead design and development activities for centrifugal pump products and systems used in the fire and HVAC segments.
- Provide engineering input including concept design and drawings, BOM structures, GA drawings, O&M manuals, manufacturing drawings and compilation of technical training programs.
- Support the UK sales, service and manufacturing teams.
Project Management
- Project manage all related product development project files and manuals.
- Work with relevant departments to create and monitor project plans for active projects.
- Coordinate changes to the relevant personnel.
- Participate in weekly project meetings.
HVAC Product Support and improvement
- Support the rationalisation of existing products and component parts.
- Work with the engineering team to create standardised offerings for the HVAC market
- Support product improvements for lower material, lower cost and improved reliability.
- Work with the sourcing team to monitor cost reduction targets for the standardised product offerings.
Fire Product Support and improvement
- Support the rationalisation of existing products and component parts.
- Work with the engineering team to create standardised offerings for the fire market
- Support product improvements for lower material, lower cost and improved reliability.
- Work with the sourcing team to monitor cost reduction targets for the standardised product offerings.
- To support the company with system audits for fire product – LPCB and FM
- To assist the fire pump product manager to maintain FM and LPCB product approvals
The Candidate:
- Degree / HND / HNC in Mechanical Engineering (beneficial)
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in a design department or similar engineering environment.
- Understanding of HVAC systems
- Experience of a SAP or ERP system
- Experience of PDM or data management system for document control
- Hydraulic and mechanical engineering design, preferably on rotating equipment
- Solid Works and autoCAD skills to a good/high level
- Project management experience
- The ability to write reports/complete paperwork accurately and legibly.
- The ability to plan and manage a varied workload and have a pro-active and flexible attitude.
- Self-motivation and commitment to achieving high standards of quality and efficiency.
