My New Job
by Stacy Lewis – Revorec
8AM on April 4th 2022, I arrived for my first day at my new job at Revorec. Based on the interview process and my research into the company, it definitely seemed like a good fit. After a not-so-great experience at my last job, I was still a little nervous and unsure what to expect.
In the month
(plus a few days) since that first day, most of the people I have spoken to about my job have noted the same thing. That I seem more relaxed, less stressed, and genuinely happy.
In the early days of my last job I wasn’t quite so sure that I was happy at the company. And I wasn’t sure how long it would take me to adjust to this job. I’m very glad that not only am I feeling happy about my new job, but that the job is having a positive enough effect on me that my friends and family have noticed.
Things started off well at this job from day one in my new job at Revorec. The company was organised in terms of being ready for new hires. I had a “to learn” list and deadline of what to be competent in. There was a structured plan for the next 2 years, before the day began. And when I got to the office, my brand-new laptop was waiting for me!
Once I was all settled in
…and had met my fellow colleagues, it was time for the formal induction to begin. Or, as I like to call it, information overload!
The opportunity to meet my new colleagues started early as well, during my interview process I had the chance to say a quick hello to the team, which definitely gave a slight peace of mind seeing the potential people I would be working closely with 5 days a week.
After my first week, we had a social night out organised by the manager as there was 3 new starters including myself, which is a perfect ice breaker for everyone involved! We all had a great night out, with many sore heads the next day.
Everyone here has made me feel welcome, wanted, and appreciated.
I know I’m still in the early stages of this job, and things will continue to change and evolve during my time here. But for the most part, things have started off well and I’m very happy with my job and the company. After a not-so-great previous experience and a very easy decision to change, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I’m excited to see what happens for me over the coming months.
