Why do a Job you like for a company you don’t?

Why do a Job you like for a company you don’t?

There is something that I find frustratingly, absurdly, and ludicrously stupid. I find this tactic completely counter intuitive and mindbogglingly irrational. It makes no sense to my psyche.

And this is staying to do a job you like but for people you don’t.

Consider the Logic

When I grew up my parents did not like their jobs. Most of my friend’s parents disliked their jobs. It seemed like most people did jobs that given a choice they would have done anything not to do but had to in order to pay the bills.

So, if you found yourself doing a job you were fortunate enough to enjoy, why do it in an environment and for people you don’t? With that logic it is like eating your favourite meal but in the lion enclosure at London Zoo. So, why do a Job you like for a company you don’t?

Overstaying your Welcome

I’ve worked in places I liked with jobs I didn’t and have done jobs I liked but for people I didn’t. Part of the reason for setting up our company was because I like the job but couldn’t find anyone I wanted to work for.

But surely once you find a job you like then you’re halfway there so why not just find a company you want to do it for? Is that logic all that crazy?

Enslaving Yourself

Let’s presume your employer has a policy of putting people on a disciplinary process that will lead to dismissal for failing to achieve target. Sounds harsh? Possibly unrealistic? That’s where your wrong. It happens. Trust me.

Does that sound like an environment any rational person would want to remain in?

How about where you work really, really hard but see your financial efforts dismissed from your pocket whilst your boss who you made the money for swans off on holiday every 3 weeks? This happens too.

How about where workplace bullying, harassment and hypocritical leadership are rife? Yeah, you guessed it. This happens too.

Reality Check

Those places still exist, and yet they still have employees sat there enslaving themselves to people who see them as nothing but cash registers.

I find this sad, but equally bizarre. Why put yourself through that? Have some pride about yourself and make the move. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment.
